New penalties for “street takeovers” were hailed Wednesday in North Texas as an example of success fomented by community leaders, law enforcement and lawmakers from both parties.
Two recently signed bills will help curb the growing problem of illegal street racing and street takeovers in the state, Gov. Greg Abbott said Wednesday during his visit to Fort Worth.
Abbott held a ceremonial bill signing, where he praised the collaboration to curtail illegal street racing and takeovers. The governor also answered questions about the border and the possibility of another special legislative session.
