Gov. Greg Abbott isn't sweating over school vouchers, despite a hot gym and a skeptical Texas House

Abbott showed no sign of being uncomfortable Thursday at St. Mary Magdalen School in San Antonio as he once again touted school choice bill.


It was a full house and there was no air conditioning, pumping the temperature up and up in the hardwood-floored Catholic middle school gym.


Most in the crowd were visibly sweating. The third through eighth grade students who sang in a choir before Gov. Greg Abbott’s speech fanned themselves with sheets of paper.


But Abbott showed no sign of being uncomfortable Thursday at St. Mary Magdalen school in San Antonio as he once again made his case for the Legislature to enact a program providing public funds to private schools. He’s been traveling the state and delivering speeches at Christian private schools for months.
