San Antonio nonprofit Methodist Healthcare Ministries invests $149.9M for health equity

Officials with San Antonio-based nonprofit Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas Inc. said June 14 their organization is investing $149.9 million in 2023 to advance health equity and strengthen communities across its 74-county service area.


The big picture


MHMST officials said this dollar amount includes direct services, community investments, development of community partnerships and advocacy initiatives that create help to level the playing field for individuals to thrive.


MHMST officials also said their nonprofit’s investment this year is a 25% increase from their 2022 investment, and is designed to further address systemic inequities and socioeconomic barriers that keep people from living their healthiest lives. Of the 130-plus community investment grant recipients in 2023, 40% were first-time recipients for MHMST.
