Ten Commandments bill moves forward in Texas Legislature

A bill that requires all Texas public classrooms to display the Ten Commandments is moving forward in the state legislature.

Senate Bill 1515, authored by state Sen. Phil King, R-Weatherford, went before the House Public Education Committee Tuesday. A version of this bill passed in the Senate last month.

SB 1515 would place a selected version of the Ten Commandments in each classroom. It also dictates that the document must be at least 16 inches wide and 20 inches tall and include the text of the Ten Commandments “in a size and typeface that is legible to a person with average vision from anywhere in the classroom.”
