The Legislature is gaining momentum as lawmakers begin to consider which legislative proposals to make law before the regular session ends May 29.
Lawmakers have proposed thousands of bills related to K-12 and higher education, border security, taxes and other issues, and many committees are holding hearings on those bills. Throughout this legislative process, members of the public have various opportunities to provide comment on the bills they care about.
Before becoming law, all bills must go through specific committees in both the House and Senate, where people can testify and provide feedback on the legislative proposals up for consideration. People can also speak directly with lawmakers and their staff and listen to discussions over any bills at the Capitol in-person or virtually.
